- I’m (probably) going to a couple of sessions at Podcamp Toronto tomorrow afternoon. Not entirely sure if I’ll get anything out of it as a little hobby blogger who wouldn’t be doing a podcast, but what the heck.
- I got invited to be on a panel of bloggers at a conference later this week aimed at big companies doing social media marketing. Which is, like, BIZARRE. And also if you knew me in real life, quite nerve-wracking as I am not a public speaker. But you know what? I said yes. I’m not going to pretend I know any more than I do. And I’ve decided that my perspective, of just ever so slightly dipping my toe in the last few months into reviews and giveaways and advertising and finding it all bizarre and yet also interesting, is enough of a perspective. So I said yes.
- I’m going to a book launch at the Toronto Women’s Bookstore next Friday night, for a book that I haven’t read, but I already respect the work of many of its authors: Mothering and Blogging: The Radical Act of the Mommy Blog.
- I just won tickets to the National Home Show in Toronto thanks to the Yummy Mummy Club. Not sure which day we’ll go yet; will have to be this weekend or next. But I am simultaneously anticipating and dreading it. I’m going to see so many amazing house-related things, and then come home to this dump. And then I’m going to want to do things to the dump. But we don’t even know what the hell we are doing. Are we still planning on moving? Are we just going to set a torch to the place and hope for an insurance claim? Argh.
- This is not an invitation to come and rob my house!! (also I decline to make much use of foursquare, and I’ve attempted to disable Google Buzz)
- If you really do want to come and rob my house, however, while I’m at work every week day, alas you won’t find much in our tony dump. Unless you really want 10 million toys, a bunch of dog hair, and IKEA furniture. Then go nuts.
- I accidentally sent a couple of you to subscribe to my old feed. Oops! Have now fixed the feedburner tab. In case you like your blogs in a reader. Like I do. Oh Google Reader, you fill up everyday, and satisfy me every night. And sometimes at lunch. And sometimes at break time. And sometimes when I should be paying attention to my kids.
- As I mentioned back at the old place, Suburban Mum helped me fix this place up nice. She is awesome. I had a really hard time exporting 6 years of posts. Probably not suprising. And I am still learning about CSS and widgets and I will probably break this place in no time (but now I know that Suburban Mum will save me! unless I piss her off too much).
- Want some other blogs to read? The Bad Moms Club (that would be Katie and Catherine) recently did a list of Canadian mom bloggers, and I was thrilled to be included on it. More importantly, despite being familiar with a good chunk of the list, I have some new morsels of writing to enjoy.
- No, I have no decided what to do with the giant over-sized mud room yet. I am too overwhelmed with the amount of crap I have to do to even put shoes away. However, you did all have lovely suggestions. I guess I probably should have also said things like “I don’t want to spend a lot of money” and we are already blessed with mucho storage and an entire library wall in our also over-sized office/library. I guess what I really should do is just have you all over for a big party and hand you paint brushes and mops and sketch pads. That would be awesome.
- I also can’t figure out what to do with the mudroom because I am spending all my time when I am not at work being consumed by the OLYMPICS. GO CANADA. I am sacrificing sleep. I have the tv on ALL THE TIME after keeping it off a lot more than we used to. And again, not paying so much attention to the kids (except I taught them about bumpy skiing a.k.a. moguls, and how to cheer for Jennifer Heil). This actually does happen every 2 years, for both the Winter and Summer Games. Deep nationalistic pride emerges forth, and forces me to watch sporting events that I would not normally even know of (what the hell kind of sport IS snowboard cross, anyway?!), never mind watch. GO CANADA.
*peeks ’round the door*
Anyone there??
Here we go.
New digs.
(Same content. Still me, just here, instead of back there.)
So, after all this time, I’ve bought a domain name and I’ve purchased self-hosting using wordpress.org and I’m very quickly learning what the hell CSS is and oh boy it’s been a long time since I had to do any website coding. But I’ve done it. I’ll let you know where I’m moving to soon, once I’ve got the heating on, and the curtains up, and the beds made. Or at least the kettle boiling, and put some cushions on the floor.
(scary!)

This little tiny baby boy? (Okay, Callum’s 2.25 years old) He moved to his brother’s old single bed this weekend, the top bunk made into a single bed with a rail. So tiny. But he’s done so well. No disrupting anyone’s sleep at all.
And this big, big boy, our Oliver? Started sleeping in the lower bunk, without a rail, and hasn’t fallen out yet. So, good.
Onwards and upwards, folks.
